Census estimates put Maize’s median build year at 2011, with about 68% of homes built in 2000 or later (U.S. Census ACS 2020–2024). Lead paint is unlikely in these homes, and the cabinet boxes are usually sound.

Under Warranty?
If your home is very new, check the builder or cabinet manufacturer warranty before painting. Painting factory-finished cabinets may affect it.
Prep for Newer Cabinets
Factory finishes are hard and slick, so the painter needs to scuff-sand and prime with a bonding primer. Skipping that step is a common cause of peeling within the first year.
